The New Jersey Titans Youth Hockey Program, proud members of the Atlantic Youth and North American Prospect Hockey Leagues, is pleased to announce that 18U National Premier netminder Tyler Franchi has been tendered by the North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) New Jersey Titans. The tender is for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Franchi, 19, had a 2.33 goals against average and .953 save percentage in 15 Atlantic Youth and North American Prospects Hockey Leagues’ games this season. The 6’1”, 175 lb. native of Denville, NJ is a left-handed catch.
“Obviously being a local guy, I knew a lot about the NAHL team and their success” stated Franchi. “But when I got cut from the NCDC and was scrambling to find a roster spot in September, the U18 Titans were already calling me and offering a chance to not only help the team battle for a shot at the District Championship, but also a chance to play in the same building as an elite junior team. People like Craig Doremus, George Haviland and Nick Skerlick all took great care of me and took an interest in my career as a hockey player. I have a lot of hard work ahead of me, but I like the spot I’m at and I love what the organization is working towards” concluded Franchi.
“Ty was a player that I've coached against for many, many years in the AYHL” stated Titans Director of Players George Haviland. “He was a goaltender that I knew could lead us to the next level not only from his playing ability from his character. Ty has a bright future ahead of him and we at the Titans are excited to have his rights going into the next NAHL season. In my eyes Ty was the best available goaltender in the Atlantic District. He led our team this season both on and off the ice. His play was spectacular” concluded Haviland.
